Patrick Cardinal has been a professor in the Department of Software and IT Engineering at ÉTS since January 2015. Since obtaining his bachelor’s degree from ÉTS in 2000, Mr. Cardinal has always worked in the field of automatic speech recognition. Before joining the department, he completed a 15-month postdoctoral fellowship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) under the supervision of James Glass.

He previously held various research positions at the Computer Research Institute of Montreal (CRIM).  During his 13 years at CRIM, he completed a Master’s degree in Computer Science at McGill University (2003) and a PhD in Engineering at ÉTS.

In the summer of 2024, he will organize the international conference Odyssey: The Speaker and Language Recognition Workshop, of which the 2022 edition was held in China.
