In the healthcare industry, diagnostic procedure and treatment options are multiplying, and the amount of information on care and services is skyrocketing. In light of this, patients are playing an active role in decisions about their health. The research conducted by Dr. Légaré and her team aims to create shared decision-making processes that patients and families can be a part of in a variety of clinical situations. They are developing decision-making tools that help healthcare professionals and patients better understand the benefits and risks of available diagnostic procedures and treatments.
In September 2013, Dr. Légaré was a co-organizer of the International Cochrane Colloquium at the Québec City Convention Centre. The event attracted 923 attendees and was named Event of the Year.
