Clermont E. Dionne is Director of the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine in the Faculty of Medicine at Université Laval. He is also a regular researcher in the Population health and optimal health practises axis of the CHU de Québec – Laval University Research Center and the VITAM Sustainable Health Research Centre, where he is responsible for the research activities of the Québec Centre of Excellence in Aging (CEVQ). He holds a PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Washington (School of Public Health, Seattle, WA).  His research program focuses on the epidemiology of musculoskeletal pain (e.g., back, shoulder, knee), a problem that imposes one of the greatest health burdens in Western societies. As a member of numerous national and international committees, Dr. Dionne is notably Epidemiology Section Editor of Pain, the leading scientific journal on pain (IF: 6,961).

He chaired the Organizing Committee of the 16th edition of the International Research Forum for Back and Neck Pain Research in Primary Care, which was held at Québec City Convention Centre in July 2019. This event brought together the best researchers on this health problem, which is considered one of the most common and costly.
