Monique Bernier, a professor of remote sensing at Institut national de recherche scientifique, picked up the 2014 Event of the Year Award for the Québec City IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium. Some 1,900 came out to the Québec City Convention Centre for the event, and economic benefits to the region came in at $4.3 million.
