Martin-Hugues St-Laurent is a professor in the Department of Biology, Chemistry and Geography at Université du Québec à Rimouski. Professor St-Laurent and his research team are studying the management and conservation of terrestrial wildlife. St-Laurent is the co-author of a study on a new method to create networks of protected areas in order to improve the preservation of the Gaspé caribou.

Mr. Saint-Laurent will be responsible, along with his colleague Jean-Pierre Tremblay, have organized the 18e North American Caribou Workshop, which was virtual in May 2021. This workshop is a central event for the sharing of indigenous traditional knowledge, scientific results and acquired experience, reports on the status of the caribou and exchanges relating to challenges for the conservation, management and recovery of the species.
