Fernand Gervais is currently the dean of Université Laval’s Faculty of Education, where he has been a professor of educational psychology since 1994. On top of his academic duties, he has been vice president as well as president of the Canadian Society for the Study of Education (CSSE) (serving from 2008 to 2012) and a scientific expert with Agence universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) (2002 to 2006).
Dr. Gervais chaired the organizing committee for the 5th International Congress of the International Society for Cultural–Historical Activity Research and was the driving force behind the city’s successful bid to be its first Canadian host. He also headed up the bid and the organizing efforts for the International Society for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Congress in Québec City in 2014.
