The new program to support the next generation of scientists sent ten lucky students from Université Laval’s Robotics Lab, led by Professor Clément Gosselin, to the American Society of Mechanical Engineers’ (ASME) International Design Engineering Technical Conference and Computers & Information in Engineering Conference (IDETC/CIE). Held at the Québec City Convention Centre from August 26 to 29, 2018, the conference was attended by over 1,000 engineers.

The program—which was developed by the Québec City Convention Centre and the Ambassadors’ Club in collaboration with the Council of Engineering and Scientific Society Executives (CESSE)—helps students attend international and North American conferences held in Québec City and encourages them to pursue careers in science.

“By attending this scientific conference in Québec City, students from the Robotics Laboratory were able to compare their research work to other international projects. It was a very enriching and eye-opening experience for them,” said Conference President Clément Gosselin.
